We’re on the road, on our way from Wroclaw to Warsaw.<\/p>\n
We had gotten up at 5:30AM, said goodbye to Una, Linn, Tara, Tom and Sonia (they were staying behind in Europe), packed, and boarded the bus.<\/p>\n
We’re making good time – there’s light traffic and good weather.\u00a0 We’re at a rest stop for breakfast:<\/p>\n

We arrived at the airport in Warsaw around 1PM.<\/p>\n

We hung around, got our bags checked, and eventually said goodbye to Tamara.\u00a0 She’d be traveling home sometime later.\u00a0 Thanks so much for the great trip, Tamara!<\/p>\n

Security was no fuss.\u00a0 We killed time in the duty free waiting for our flight.\u00a0 I bought a chocolate bar with my last 10z.\u00a0 We board at 4PM.<\/p>\n

We’re all really anxious to get home.\u00a0 I think we’re all pretty sick of traveling now – and we have an 8+ hour flight ahead of us.\u00a0 Just look at these faces.<\/p>\n

We just want to get home.<\/p>\n
Eventually we boarded the plane:<\/p>\n

We’re already an hour into the flight.\u00a0 Somehow, this plane isn’t giving me too much confidence.<\/p>\n
The safety video (on a single screen at the front of the plane) kept flickering in and out, and I think I missed a lot of important information.<\/p>\n
There were several instances where music would start to play for a few seconds in the cabin, and then abruptly stop.<\/p>\n
Ryan and Jiv just noticed that there’s water dripping on them from above the overhead compartment.<\/p>\n
My headphones don’t seem to work unless I hold them in.<\/p>\n
And there’s masking tape holding part of the wall together.<\/p>\n
At this point in my journal, my writing really started to deteriorate. \u00a0The timestamps have less and less meaning as I travel across time zones. \u00a0I think my pen was starting to run out of ink, I was exhausted, and the boredom of the flight was starting to drive me nuts.\u00a0 I’ll do my best to translate the scrawl that ended my journal.<\/em><\/p>\n No idea where we are, so no real clue on what the actual time is.\u00a0 Still, it’s pretty bright out.\u00a0 Looks like mid-afternoon outside.\u00a0 This is going to be the longest day of my life.<\/p>\n I’m trying to read Guns, Germs and Steel<\/a>, but I just can’t concentrate.\u00a0 I can’t wait to be home.<\/p>\n Hannah Montana is the inflight film.\u00a0 SHOOT ME.<\/p>\n [simage=621,288] The minutes are crawling by.\u00a0 3 or 4 more hours.\u00a0 Pen is starting to fail me.<\/p>\n Still bright out.\u00a0 Spooky.\u00a0 About to get our second meal!\u00a0 Surprise:\u00a0 it’s a sandwich.\u00a0 And the Nutcracker Suite just came on in my headphones again.\u00a0 That’s 6 times in total now.<\/p>\n Just filled out declaration card for Canada Customs.\u00a0 There are lots of confused people who don’t speak English on the plane.\u00a0 Lots of passengers standing up, and gesturing to one another frantically.\u00a0 Wish I could help, but I don’t speak Polish.<\/p>\n 1 hour remaining.\u00a0 Can’t wait.\u00a0 Flying over Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n Got off the plane.\u00a0 Buzzed through customs.\u00a0 Luggage was late getting onto the carousel, but it eventually showed up.\u00a0 Said lots of goodbyes to people.\u00a0 Jiv’s family offered to drive me home, and I gratefully accepted.<\/p>\n Noticed plenty of garbage on the streets on the drive in – though I had imagined more.<\/p>\n Eventually showed up at my apartment in Toronto.\u00a0 Said goodbye to Jiv and his family.<\/p>\n Went inside.\u00a0 Fingers barely worked.\u00a0 Made contact with Em, the guys, and my family to let them know I was alive.<\/p>\n And then collapsed into bed.\u00a0 It was good to be home.<\/p>\n Click here to go back to My Poland Journal: Index<\/a><\/p>\n8:50PM (Poland Time)<\/h3>\n
